I bought a new power drill at the weekend. Nothing fancy, just a corded drill with more oomph than the 14.4V battery one I have.

I was going to buy a basic DeWalt (deciding that Black & Decker don’t really have staying power) but the Home Depot man steered me to the Ridgid because it had a lifetime warranty (after realizing I wasn’t actually going to spend a couple of hundred dollars on some random recommendations). Surprisingly it was also a couple of dollars cheaper but I didn’t really care, and I’m suspicious of the warranty too – apart from North Face and REI I’ve never really seen anyone stand behind these promises without endless red tape and frustration.

But the point here, actually, is the power cord for the drill. It lights up when it’s plugged in! And it has a picture of a drill on it so you know which cord to unplug! That is nice design – Apple would be proud! I think I’m happy with my new drill (after all it does drill holes too).
