From a few weeks ago; when Danika was doing some of the Carkeek Park 12-hour run, Lucy and I supported. And then we played on the beach.

She Poops!

Lucy

Imagine my surprise when I picked Lucy up from day care tonight and her teacher informed me that she pooped in the potty today. Oh, and by the way, she did it yesterday too. WHAT!? She’s never done that at home! We’re pretty casual and laid back about the whole potty thing. Perhaps too much? Lucy occasionally sits on the potty, often fully clothed. But she’s never actually done anything on it.

Anyway, her teacher reports that she is now waking up from her nap with a dry diaper and using the potty. By golly, our girl is READY! And man, is she growing up fast or what? She’s now weaned (7 days and counting. Sniff, sniff), sleeping by herself all night and is whipping out all sorts of other wonders! She can count to 10- well, sometimes. Usually, it’s more like 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 7, 8, 7, 6…but sometimes she gets it right. And she can sing the start of her abc’s.

Make no mistake, folks. Our Lucy is no mere toddler anymore. She is a KID- who talks, and runs, and demands that the world pay attention. And she POOPS IN THE POTTY. Did I mention that she is eating us out of house and home? All of a sudden! It’s “Beef! Egg! Yogurt! Muffin! More!” She’s unstoppable. Growth spurt, developmental spurt, all of the above. And for the first time, I feel awfully sad about how fast it’s happening. It’s almost a blur, and I think this is a time I should be savoring. Don’t grow up too fast, little one. You have your whole life ahead of you.
