Well swaddled Waddell

Just in case you haven’t received our e mail blast, our latest addition has finally arrived! Beatrix Jane was born at home early Monday morning. It was a relatively easy labor and everything went about as smoothly as it possibly could have. Beatrix was 8 pounds 14 ounces (same as her big sis Lucy) and 21 inches long. I don’t have it written down yet, but I think the midwife said her head was 14 3/4 inches in circumference (aka BIG). So far she’s doing a lot of sleeping and nursing like a natural.

Lucy is absolutely in love and has been a wonderful big sister. As of yet, she shows not one bit of jealousy and wants to hold the baby and/or help her as much as possible. I’m sure we’ll see some signs of jealousy eventually, but for now, our Lucy is taking it all in stride perfectly well.

I actually feel great. This labor was far less intense (and MUCH shorter: ~6 hours versus 43 hours for Lucy) and I’m mostly caught up on sleep. Gordon hasn’t let me lift a finger, so I’ve been mostly laying on the couch and gazing at our beautiful Bea. I think we’re more or less ready to start seeing visitors, so if you’re local, come on by (call first, though). The first batch of photos is up, and there will be plenty more to follow.

While we’re stretched out waiting for baby we hang out at the zoo with friends.

Talk to #2
#2 is still hanging in there – despite our best efforts to convince an exit (or are we contributing to the desire to stay inside?).

One of a very random collection of photos mopping up the rest of October.
