This is my first week home alone with Lucy. G managed to take 2 weeks off from work and the following week my mother was here to visit. Both of them were immensely helpful and I don’t know what I would have done without the extra hands. But now, we’re settling into life as it will be for the next several weeks. Lucy and I are together all day and then G gets to hang out with her in the evening which is, unfortunately, her fussy time of day.
Yesterday, I managed to get the basics done- I ate, showered and checked e mail. Lucy and I met friends at Green Lake for a walk and also ran some errands in the afternoon. I cooked dinner and did a load of laundry (although said load of laundry is STILL sitting in the dryer. Oh well, I’m not Super Woman, OK?). In short, it’s going well so far. The key, I think, is to have extremely low (aka realistic) expectations. I did not get to work on my thank yous, review finances or start my journal for Lucy. But we were clean and fed and got a bare minimum of things done around the house.
Lucy continues to thrive- perhaps too much? At her 2 week pediatrician appointment, she measured 9 pounds, 11.7 ounces. That puts her in the 90th (!) percentile for weight. She’s also in the 95th percentile for height. How did she get so big? No matter. At this stage of the game, that extra weight can only be a good thing.
Apologies for the lack of photos. Our attention spans (mine and G’s) are really quite short these days and we’re not getting to some of the secondary tasks as much as we’d like. Hopefully, we’ll get another batch up soon. If you want to schedule a video chat with us, just let me know. Although Lucy has a tendency to scream through these sessions, they’re better than nothing!
