Gordon's 2006 List

For this Thanksgiving year:

  • the sound of the ocean after a long time away
  • big mountains and glaciers and the ability to walk up them
  • switching from step-in to strap-ins for snowboarding, at long last
  • Besalu
  • changing job
  • the many flavours of fermented grape
  • crisp icy days
  • Rosemary Diamante bread
  • salt
  • growing babies
  • ultrasound
  • the pleasures of a singlespeed bike

Last year I missed “strangers with a van stopping for an injured cyclist”, but even a year later, I’m still Thankful.

My favourite things are a little random, I seem to be suffering from amnesia, but I’m going to go with:

Favourite Movie:

An Inconvenient Truth

Favourite Book:

The Charnel Prince

Favourite Meal:

Anything at Matt’s, although to be honest I can’t chose from so many good meals this year.

Favourite Music/CD::

A ridiculously busy music year, so I have distilled it to discovering Snow Patrol with Eyes Open and the latest from The Long WintersPutting the Days to Bed.

Oh, and a final mention to the song This Year from The Mountain Goats on The Sunset Tree

Favourite Saying:

I chose one of the many favourites I track on Quotes of the Day:

“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.” – e e cummings

with (as far as I remember it), the first words I heard when coming back from doing an early morning run around Ballard on the 20th of May 2006:

“I’m glad you’re back, I think I’m pregnant.” – danika waddell
